From July through September 2004, The Big Tadoo Puppet Crew embarked on a tour across country on a bus powered by both recycled veggie oil and bio-diesel fuel to promote democracy and sustainability in swing states on the way to the Democratic National Convention in Boston, the Republican National Convention in New York.
We took our puppet shows and the bus on the road across America inspiring people to vote and taught about the alternative plant-based fuels available to help us get off our petroleum dependency. We played a variety of venues from cafes to festivals, colleges to farmers markets as we crossed the country. In addition to our portable stage, our bus had a puppet stage built right into the side of the bus in order to perform bus stop theater to random audiences at bus stops, truck stops, fairs, parades and other public gatherings. We brought a collection of literature, pamphlets and other alternative press to provide access to these resources to the middle of America. .
